Two men from Birmingham have today been found guilty of sexual abusing a 14 year-old girl.
Following a two week trial, Adeeb Sultan, aged 27 was found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court of two counts of sexual activity of a child and one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
A second man, Raja Khan, 23 also from Birmingham, was found guilty of rape and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Nicola Heath, Senior Crown Prosecutor from the West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service’s Public Protection Unit, said:
“Both of the men who have been prosecuted today took part in activities which they knew were criminal and now they must take full responsibility for their actions and deal with the consequences.
“Throughout this case Adeeb Sultan maintained a defence that he thought the victim was 16 years-old and was fully in agreement into what she was doing. However, he knew that the victim was only 14 years-old and that she was vulnerable due to her youth and her personal circumstances. He exploited the victim’s weaknesses for his own gratifications.
